Explosion At China’s Foxconn Plants Kills 2, Injures 16

Rarely does the tech-world see “good” news coming from China’s Foxconn plants (more recently as a result of the unfortunate suicide of an employee expected to have leaked information about Apple’s iPhone). Foxconn is fairly well-known for manufacturing devices for companies such as Apple and Dell, though it’s steadily stayed in the eyes of the world as various complaints surface over the years regarding the company. Friday evening one of Foxcon’s iPad 2-producing plants located in southwestern Chengdu, China had ...

Similar news was first brought to light when leaked training information surfaced and revealed a netbook to come at some ...

Review: Fedora 15 With Gnome 3

As with any other review situation results will vary drastically depending on the person, that being said my current personal “setup” consists of the following: Trisquel OS which runs Gnome 2 by default, though I installed the Gnome Shell. Day to day operations with it were very enjoyable. It’s single horizontal bar offers much more screen space (an essential feature for those with smaller screens). Many helpful features were provided, such as the ability (with one mouse gesture) see everything ...

Ubuntu 11.04 (a.k.a. Natty Narwhal) Beta 2 Released And Available For Download

Several weeks ago Canonical released the final version of Ubuntu 11.04. The new update replaces the Gnome 2 panel with Canonical’s newly developed Unity UI. The beta versions of Unity were plagued with poor performance issues…crashing and locking up regularly, though the official version released with 11.04 has improved significantly. Ubuntu 11.04 in a whole looks fantastic, though some minor annoyances became more apparent after only several days use. Small inconveniences such as the horizontal application bar not appearing, the ...
