Google Banned All Free .co.cc Subdomains From Its Search Results

In a move that surprised many, Google has removed all .co.cc subdomains from its search results pages. This means that over 11 million websites will no longer be displayed in search results. Google cited its policy of banning ‘freehost’ domains that were prone to malware storage.

There were many such pages on the .co.cc free subdomain service. Google claims that the subdomain represents a ‘bad neighborhood’ of the digital world. This is the largest action taken by Google so far, but it’s suspected that more such bans will take place in the future.

Unlike some other the other .co domains in the world (such as .co.uk and .co.jp), the .co.cc subdomain isn’t a top level domain, but is instead uses the .cc domain TLD to host a .co subdomain. Users who want a free domain name may register a Name.co.cc and use it as a domain name alternative.

Due to the free nature of the service, it was prone to being used by some to host malware and other badware. Critics say the move by Google will prevent those sites that were not harmful from appearing in search results. Some have said that less than half a percent of all  sites on the .co.cc extension were hosting malware, and that by removing every free .co.cc subdomain the company will block more good information than bad.

I am not agree with the Google’s decision. Only such domain should be banned which is spamming not all co.cc domains

In my opinion that would be a waste of googles time. The subdomains should have been deleted because they were very spammy and low-quality. Most people who visit a site using the .co.cc domain find them to be very sucky.

You not forced use Google. Use other search. Google free service, so no need to have all.
