We are very pleased to bring you some fresh details and pictures of the new Motorola XOOM 2 tablet today, with the exciting news that the device will be released in two different sizes – an 8″ model and a 10″ model.  Both the new Motorola XOOM 2 tablets will feature 4G LTE connectivity when they are released on Verizon, and all those other tablets that lack the 4G LTE connectivity will be left behind in the data speed department.

Motorola have moved away from the bulkier design of the original Motorola XOOM tablet, with both the 8″ and 10″ XOOM 2 models coming in at a very thin 9.3mm.  We’ve previously drawn comparisons between the XOOM 2 and the Motorola Photon 4G, and these clearer pictures confirm that the beveled edges of the XOOM 2 are remarkably similar to those of the Photon 4G.  This is definitely a wise decision Motorola have made, considering the ongoing lawsuits between Samsung and Apple over the similarities between the design of the Galaxy Tab and the iPad 2.

According to our source both the 8″ and 10″ versions of the XOOM 2 are currently running under the codename ‘Fleming‘, although we are uncertain as to why they have grouped the two devices under the one codename.  We can also reveal that both versions will be running Android 3.2 Honeycomb when they are launched, however at this stage the OS is still quite unstable when running on the hardware, with frequent crashes and reboots being reported.  The only other spec revealed so far is that both models will have dual HD cameras on the rear (5MP) and on the front (2MP), so anything else is just speculation at this point.

With the OS still being tested it may be a little while before we see any official release of the Motorola XOOM 2 in either the 8″ or 10″ model, and we will be sure to bring you all relevant updates as they come to hand.  What do you all think of the freshly styled Motorola XOOM 2?
