Motorola XOOM 2 Tablets May Launch In November

We have already seen a few leaked pictures of the new Motorola XOOM 2 tablet leak to the internet, with the latest pictures showing both an 8.2″ media edition alongside it’s bigger 10.1″ sibling.  Both versions of the new Motorola XOOM 2 have been slimmed down and given a serious dose of Motorola Photon 4G inspired styling, and the latest information coming to us via Digitimes is that the XOOM 2 will be released this coming November.

This fresh information on the Motorola XOOM 2 tablet also claims that Motorola is building the 10″ XOOM 2 in-house, and has assigned tech company Compal to work on the smaller 8.2″ media edition.  If this new information is correct then we will also not be seeing the XOOM 2 launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich installed as expected, with Motorola opting to run Android 3.2 Honeycomb initially.  The expectation is that Motorola will likely be the first manufacturer to receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update once it is rolled out to existing tablets in the market, and considering Google has recently acquired Motorola Mobility this seems to be a fairly likely outcome.

Whilst the information from Digitimes may be correct, we have not heard any official announcements from Motorola regarding the XOOM 2, so at this stage all specs and possible release dates should still be treated with a little caution.  What we do know for sure is that the new XOOM 2 models will be super thin, coming in at just 9.3mm thick, and that they look much more stylish and unique than the original Motorola XOOM tablet.

If these current rumors to prove to be true then we should expect to see the 8.2″ media edition Motorola XOOM 2 launch this November, with the 10.1″ Motorola XOOM 2 following closely behind in December.  Remember that this is just a rumor at the moment, and may change in the future.
