We could not provide free calling information without including Skype. Although it began its service using computers, mobile has greatly benefited because of the many apps that have been released. In Asia Yahoo messenger is big with their IM app being the first choice for many users. The Android app is much the same. Froyo on your phone is required and it enables you to initiate calls (after you install the plug-in), and even video calls from the app. In addition, Yahoo can send free international SMS, chat on Facebook and more.
7. Rebtel :
You don’t even have to turn this app on to get started as it comes with a built-in dial pad. You just dial and it’s done. This app is different in that you have two options. The Android app is free and you can call other Tru users, even those on Skype and GTalk. Also, Tru offers its own SIM card and by purchasing it you don’t have to be concerned with roaming charges or finding Wi-Fi hotspots. You get to keep your existing number.
10. Sipdroid Guava :
The Sipdroid Guava app allows you to make calls to any U.S. number for free. Google owns it and you can synchronize it with Google Voice to make free calls and text messages. As long as you have connectivity, you can also receive calls with your Google Voice number.
11. Google Voice :
When Guava is synchronized with this app, you can make International calls for free. Without Guava, text messages are free on this Android version of Google Voice. This app functions in real time allowing you to receive voice and text messages as soon as they arrive.
12. netTALK :
In the United States or Canada, you will receive unlimited free calling privileges with this app. Calls to other countries cost a small fee and rates are available on it’s developer website. With Net Talk you can record you conversations, import contacts, make a free conference call by dialing 2663 and you can call 411 for Directory assistance.
If you have an Android tablet, or iPad, you can convert it with a microphone and compatible headset with this app. Net Talk may require a registration to use this app and if your connectivity is 3G, some mobile operators restrict VoIP on their network.

Thanks for sharing such a long list of apps to make free calls. Skype and Nimbuzz are something which I have tried extensively. Not much sure about the others. Will try them out soon too.
lol, only knew “skype” till now. Some others (like “Qik Video”) seem quite cool!
