There are a ton of great applications coming out for Android tablets. Google’s latest Android operating system (Honeycomb) is specifically optimized for tablets, and as such, will let developers create even better apps for the myriad of tablets that are coming onto the market. This is article will take a look at the top 5 apps available for Honeycomb based tablets.
1. Google Earth :
If you’re running a tablet with honeycomb, Google Earth is a must. The tablet sized screens mean the interface isn’t cramped at all–the same app running on phones is another story. Users can use the touch based gesturing to control their views, switching between street view, 3d views (if the structures users are looking at have had 3d models uploaded).
2. Fuze Meeting :
This is a really nice multi-party video conferencing app. Like most streaming video applications, users will see the best performance from the software if they are connected to wifi. The interface is intuitive, and the video chat works really well. If you’re relying on your tablets internal microphone, you may want to give it a test before using it for business conferencing.
3. Google Sky Map :
Using the tablets accelerometer and GPS sensors, Google Sky Map can detect where you are on the globe. When you hold your tablet up to the stars, it displays constellations, star names, planets, and other interest stellar features.
4. Kindle Application :
Most people assume that the Kindle application is only useful to those who have Amazons e-reader device. Not so with this software. Simply install it on your Honeycomb tablet and use it as an e-reader. All your Amazon Kindle e-book purchased will automatically be synced to your device. When you read on it, the software will also update your current place in each book across all of your devices.
5. Cordy :
Not everything has to be boring on this list! Cordy is a really cool game in which you control a robot to reach goals. Your robot character interacts with the world in different ways to reach the end of each level. The graphics are wonderful, and the game runs very smoothly. It’s also a unique game, in this world full of Angry Birds clones.
