The Netflix app for Windows 7 mobile smartphones has been out for a year now, and by all accounts it’s been performing without a hitch. Released in conjunction with the initial launch of the Windows 7 mobile phone, the Netflix app has delivered amazing movie-streaming goodness to Windows Phone 7 owners. Lucky Windows Phone users were the first to benefit from a mobile Netflix app, but now (some) Android-based phones and iOS devices can also enjoy watching a streaming movie or an episode of their favorite TV episode right on their mobile screens. Since it was launched last year, the Netflix app for Windows 7 phones has become one of the most popular app downloads in the Zune Marketplace. Live Netflix streaming on your phone is an amazing mobile phone feature. But you had better have a generous data package if you plan on watching movies on your mobile device on a regular basis.
System Requirements:
You will need a Windows 7-based mobile phone naturally that supports Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. Netflix suggests you confirm the extent of your data plan with your service provider before downloading the Netflix app. “Streaming over 3G can use a significant amount of data. Contact your service provider regarding your available data plans and charges,” reads the warning on the Netflixx website.
Netflix App Interface:
Although you can browse through a menu of selections, check quick movie summaries and access movie reviews, this app is primarily designed to stream video content, lots and lots of glorious streaming content.
The interface is clean, simple and features easy to navigate tabs. You are directed to a user login screen the first time the Netflix app is downloaded on your Windows 7 phone.
Performance:
Netflix performs beautifully on Windows 7 phones (that offer the required connectivity). Buffering, a big barometer of the performance of streaming content, works admirably. The buffering time is quite short, and does not in anyway, interfere with user enjoyment. A powerful Wi-Fi connection will give you more bang for your streaming movie buck. Watching a streaming movie using 3G is not as efficient, and the buffering process is longer, but it still works just fine.
What Movies are Available?
The popular online movie rental service has thousands of movies and TV episodes (and constantly growing) available to watch as streaming content on your Windows 7 mobile phone.
How Much Does the Netflix App for Windows 7 Phones Costs?
The app is available in the Zune Marketplace for free, but you do need to be have a paid subscription for the Netflix service, or you can opt to register for a free 30-day trial. After 30-days, you would continue to be billed monthly, unless you cancel your trial membership before the 30-days is up. The monthly cost is well worth it though. For 7.99 a month, Netflix members can watch unlimited movies and TV episodes streamed to their TVs, computers and mobile phone devices.
You have the option of pause, rewind and fast forward features. And you can re-watch your movies as many times as you want. You can also pause a movie on your Windows 7 phone and finish watching it at home on your PC or TV.
